  1. The story of Ben Chin is inspiring for anyone who has fallen to drug or alcohol addiction and believes there is now way out. Similar to Project Rebound here at SFSU, we need to implement more programs like it across more universities, for the importance of them is clearly illustrated as it is vital to reshape lives. As Ben Chin himself says, “Of course the same goes for the importance of Rutgers Recovery Housing and how it supported me. If it weren’t for these two programs, I wouldn’t be a Rutgers student.” It is unequivocally important that our incarcerated youth, or adults for that matter, be offered programs such as this in order to hurdle over addiction and strive towards success, and to the top of their intellectual capacity. Although some may find it as somewhat of a cliche, the words "Nothing worse than wasted talent" still hold a solid meaning and foundation in defining the value of lost potential. It is already bad enough that we must refute education to some of our genius minds due to high tuition costs, so one can only imagine how truly heartbreaking it is to deny the same to one who is a part of the juvenile authoritarian system.
