In an article in The Golden Gate Express, our organization was recognized as "redefining ex-inmates [through education]," as well as being one of the only programs of its kind in the U.S. With merely a staff of three and at least 80 Rebound students, our program is doing its best to expand to other parts of the state as well as the country. Being the only program in the entire nation that helps and encourages incarcerated individuals to pursue higher education seems like a shame to me. With a significantly large number of 33 prisons in California, in which many are overcrowded; one would assume that such educational programs exist. Project Rebound is in dire need to expand, so they may reach out to many more people than within city limits. Without education, we are limiting ourselves of all possibilities.
